Manchester City scored twice in the second half to earn a well-deserved 3-0 win over Bayern Munich in the quarter-final first leg of their UEFA Champions League encounter at the Etihad stadium on Tuesday.

Rodri, Bernardo Silva, and Erling Haaland were on the scoresheet as Pep Guardiola came up top against his former side now coached by Thomas Tuchel.

Rodri curled into the top corner from distance after 27 minutes but Guardiola’s side had to wait till 20 minutes left to double the advantage, with Silva heading in from Haaland’s cross.

The Norwegian striker also swept a cross past the goalkeeper six minutes later to give Man City a comfortable advantage going into the second leg in Germany.

Elsewhere, Romelu Lukaku scored a penalty as Inter Milan won 2-0 at Benfica to establish a good advantage toward a semi-final place in the UCL.

Nicolo Barella scored the opener before Lukaku sealed the win that ended Inter Milan’s six-match losing streak in all competitions.
