Uganda President names daughter country’s Central Bank Governor
President Yoweri Museveni of Uganda has appointed his daughter, Natasha Museveni, as the Governor of the Bank of Uganda.
There had been agitation for Yoweri to name the new bank chief after its governor Emmanuel Tumusiime-Mutebile died over two years ago.
Deputy Governor Michael Atingi-Ego had run the central bank since the death of Tumusiime-Mutebile in January 2022.
Natasha’a appointment is coming days after Uganda’s defense ministry announced that the President appointed his son, Muhoozi Kainerugaba, as the head of the military.
At 48 years old, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba is widely believed to be his father’s potential successor.
Natasha, who is 48 years is married to Edwin Karugire, one of Uganda’s top lawyers.
