USA promises to deport Nigerian serving 20 years’ imprisonment after serving jail term

The United State government has promised to deport a US-based Nigerian, Theophilis Anwana, who was sentenced to 20 years in prison after he was convicted of a second-degree rape.
Amid the Donald Trump-led government raid on illegal immigrants and criminals in America, ICE stated that Anwana would land in Nigeria after serving his sentence.
Anwana, 37, was arrested on August 28 by the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement in Baltimore, ICE said in a post on X on Sunday.
“Theophilis Anwana, a 37-year-old sexual predator from Nigeria has been convicted of second-degree rape in Bel Air, Maryland, and was sentenced to 20 years in prison.” ICE added.
According to ICE, Anwana has had a final order of removal since four years, since September 2021.
However, whether such would happen remains to be seen as President Trumpand his anti-immigration policy will leave oval office in less than four years and new administration will be in place when Anwana leaves prison.
