Wrongful overtaking causes auto crash in Bauchi, three die
Three people were killed in a crash at Badaromo village, along the Bauchi-Maiduguri Road in the Ganjuwa Local Government Area of Bauchi State
The crash, which occurred on Saturday night, involved two vehicles – a commercial and a private – that were coming in opposite directions.
Two female adults and one male adult were killed, while three others, two female adults and one male adult escaped with no injuries.
The Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corp, Bauchi State, Yusuf Abdullahi, confirmed the incident on Sunday.
Abdullahi said the commercial vehicle, “a Howo Truck with registration number, BS 620-XA, belongs to the Dangote Group of Companies while the private is a Ford Focus Saloon with registration number: AG 999-JRE, driven by one Usman Alasan. “
According to him, the crash was caused by wrong overtaking.
“The crash involved a commercial vehicle, a Howo Truck with registration number: BS 620-XA belonging to Dangote Company, while the private is a Ford Focus Saloon with registration number: AG 999-JRE, driven by one Usman Alasan.
“It (the crash) happened at 8pm, we were informed at 8.10pm and it took our men 10 minutes to get to the scene of the crash for a rescue operation. It was caused by wrong overtaking.
“A total of six people, four female adults and two male adults, were involved in the crash.
“As soon as they got there, they evacuated the victims to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Teaching Hospital for treatment and confirmation. A medical doctor there confirmed three of them, two female adults and one male adult, dead.”
