Tanker bursts into flames while delivering petrol, fuel station, house razed
A petrol-laden tanker on Saturday caught fire, burning property worth millions of naira.
The incident happened were in Idanre community in Idanre Local Government Area of Ondo State.
Eyewitnesses said the fire razed down the filling station and a building beside it.
However no life was lost in the incident.
It was gathered that the tanker was at the unnamed filling station in the community to transmit petrol into the underground tank of the filling station when it caught fire.
One of the eyewitnesses said, ” The tanker was at the petrol station this evening to deliver petrol. As the workers in the station were transferring the fuel into the underground tank, fire suddenly started and before you know it, big fire started. Everybody quickly ran for their lives.
“The fire burnt down the filling station completely; the house beside the station was also burnt. Later the fire fighters arrived at the scene and put out the fire.”
The Police Public Relations Officer, Mrs Funmilayo Odunlami, confirmed the incident, adding that there was no casualty in the incident.
“The timely intervention of the men of the state fire service prevented the fire from wreaking more havoc,” the PPRO said.
