Five suspected political thugs killed during clash in Kano

No fewer than five suspected political thugs lost their lives on Tuesday in Kano following a clash between two rival groups in the ancient city.
The thugs who stormed the venue of the swearing in ceremony of the new Deputy Governor, Murtala Sule Garo, were said to have clashed after the ceremony while returning to their various destinations in the town.
It was gathered that some of the miscreants, who were in thousands, stormed the city with weapons from the 44 local government areas of state in order to attend the grand ceremony.
A resident of Dandago area in the Gwale local government area, Malam Hayatu Mohammad said on Wednesday that three political thugs, including one notorious Ribadu, were killed by a rival group.
“Three thugs, all residents of Dandago including Ribadu lost their lives during the clash.
“I saw a number of them after returning from the burial of their deceased members,” he said.
Another resident who spoke on condition of anonymity said no fewer than five political thugs lost their lives during the clash in the city.
He said many residents returning from the Kantian Kwari Market along Mandawari Road around 6pm on Tuesday were forced to take another road to avoid attack by the miscreants who took over the entire road.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Haruna could not be reached for comment.
