Train Accident: Sanwo-Olu sad as death toll rises, Lagos asks for blood donation
The Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has expressed sorrow over the Thursday accident in Ikeja, involving a train and a Lagos State Government staff bus.
This is as the Lagos State Government asks residents to donate blood for the victims in hospital, just as death toll rises to three.
The governor, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Gboyega Akosile,
said, “I am deeply saddened by the news of the accident. The vehicle was conveying staff of the Lagos State Government, our staff who serve the state in different capacities.
“Let’s say a prayer for the families and a prayer of mercy and protection for our state.
“My thoughts are with the victims and their families during this difficult time.”
Sanwo-Olu thanked Lagosians who joined the state’s first responders in search and rescue operation, saying the true spirit of Lagos must be sustained at all times.
Meanwhile, the Lagos State Government has asked volunteers to donate blood for victims of the accident.
The SSA to Sanwo-Olu on New Media, Jubril Gawat, and the Lagos state blood transfusion committee said blood could be donated at the following sites:
1. Gbagada General Hospital
2. Lagos State Accident and Emergency Centre, Toll gate.
3. General Hospital Lagos Island
4. Folarin Coker Staff Clinic Alausa Ikeja
5. LASUTH.
