Police confirm LP chair, Abure’s arrest for murder

The police on has confirmed the  arrest of the the National Chairman of the Labour Party, Julius Abure.

The Police Public Relations Officer for  Zone 5 Police Command, Tijani Momoh, confirmed that Abure was arrested on Wednesday for attempted murder and illegal possession of firearms.

Abure was arrested in the afternoon in Benin City.

Momoh said Abure and four other people had been detained over a petition against them.

The petition by the LP Youth Leader, Eragbe Aphimia, was addressed to the Commissioner of Police, Edo State Command, dated February 13.

The PPRO said, “There are video clips, recordings of the petitioner being assaulted, being beaten when he came home last year to conduct ward matters.

“It is a case of attempted murder, conspiracy, illegal possession of arms and other related offences. They were also in possession of firearms, a short gun and three rounds of ammunition. Investigation is ongoing. They were arrested today.”
