Shettima, Ganduje’s mothers-in-law buried in Kano State

Vice President Kashim Shattima and the national chairman of the All Progressives Congres, Abdullahi Ganduje . have buried their mothers-in-law respectively in Kano.

Shettima’s mother-in-law, Hajiya Maryam Abubakar Albishir, died on Sunday and was buried on Monday.

Ganduje’s mother-inlaw, Hajiya Asiya Muhammad Gauyama, the mother of Ganduje’s wife Hafsatu, died on Monday morning and was buried after 3pm at the Tarauni cemetery.

The funeral prayer for Hajiya Gauyama was led by Sheik Auwalu Khalid, the Imam of Ganduje residence mosque at Miyangu road in Kano.

Ganduje, who governed Kano from 2019 to 2023, arrived at the city on chartered flight in company with family, friends, and political associates.

The national APC chairman, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary (CPS), Edwin Olofu, had earlier announced the demise of the ex-governor’s mother-inlaw.

Deputy Senate President, Barau Jibrin and Senator Abdurrahman Kawu Sumaila were among those who attended the burial of the former governor’s mother-inlaw.

Meanwhile, Kano Governor Abba Yusuf on Monday expressed his heartfelt condolences to the Vice President, Sen. Kashim Shattima, over the death of his mother in-law, Hajiya Maryam Abubakar Albishir.

The governor in a statement by his spokesperson, Sanusi Bature, described late Hajiya Maryam Abubakar as an obedient housewife who did her best in the upbringing of her family members, which included blood children, and other non-related people, that she helped in moulding their characters.

The statement added, “We were shocked on hearing about the death of Hajiya Maryam Abubakar Albishir. The griefs over her death spread beyond her family, Kano State, but the entire nation

“Her death occured when she is needed the most. People like her are very rare. She was a unique, friendly, respectful, family and community responsible leader whose death has created a wide vacuum difficult to fill,” Yusuf mourned.

The statement added: “The Governor, on behalf of the government and good people of Kano State, extends condolences to the Vice President, Kashim Shattima, his wife Hajiya Nana Shettima and the families of the deceased.

“The prayed to Almighty Allah to grant her soul eternal rest and Jannatul Firdausi be her final abode.”
