Gunmen storm private hostel, shoot Ondo varsity 300-level student

A 300-level Linguistics student of the Adekunle Ajasin University, identified simply as Emmanuel, has been shot and killed by gunmen in one of the private student hostels in Akungba Akoko, Ondo State.

It was said that that student was shot was shot in his room on Sunday.

“It happened last night, the victim was shot in his bed, inside his room,” a source saidd.

The Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer, Odunlami Ibukun said the incident had been reported to the police, adding that the command was already investigating the matter.

He said, “It was reported to the police and they had to go to the crime scene. The incident occurred around 9:30 pm. Investigation is ongoing.”

The Vice Chairman of the National Association of Universities Students, Comrade Oladele Emmanuel, in his reaction called on security agencies and the university management to investigate the matter thoroughly and bring the perpetrators to justice.

“The motive behind the killing is yet to be identified,” Emmanuel stated.
