Akume rallies Alia, others to crush Benue APC crisis, secures Tinubu’s 2027 mandate

In a display of political mastery, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, has pulled the Benue State back from the brink of political anarchy.
Our investigation revealed that the long-drawn factional war within the All Progressives Congress, which saw parallel congresses in March 2026 and rival executives tearing the party apart, has been ended by the Middle Belt’s most respected leader.
At a high-level meeting on Sunday, Akume did what no other mediator could: He got Governor Hyacinth Alia and the warring factions led by Austin Agada and Ben Omakolo to sign a binding peace accord.
The secret weapon? Akume’s proposal of automatic tickets for all elected officials, a move that sources say was “a masterstroke of inclusive politics.”
“Akume placed party unity above personal ambition,” an insider told our correspondent.
“He told the governor, ‘You will have your ticket. But you must also bring everyone along.’ That is the mark of a true father,” the source added.
President Bola Tinubu, who had personally directed Akume to restore order in Benue, is said to be happy with the new development.
With the Middle Belt now solidly behind the APC, Tinubu’s 2027 re-election is all but guaranteed.
Political watchers said Akume not only saved Benue, he secured Nigeria’s political future.
