Church founder defiles 14-year-old girl in Ogun

The General Overseer of the Beloved Chapel in Agbado, Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State, Pastor Israel Adebayo, has been arrested by the police in the state for allegedly defiling a 14-year-old girl.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, in a statement on Sunday, said the 38-year-old pastor, whose church is located on Iyaniwura Street, Agbado, was arrested following a complaint by the mother of the mother Agbado Police Division.

Oyeyemi said the victim’s mother reported that the incident happened when she travelled to treat herself of a certain ailment.

The PPRO added that the mother said her daughter, who was a choir member in the church, was lured by the pastor into his room and he forcefully had carnal knowledge of her.

He said, “Upon the report, the Divisional Police Officer, Agbado division, detailed his detectives to the scene, where the pastor was arrested.

“The pastor admitted to defiling the victim but pleaded for forgiveness. He said his family and that of the victim are so close, but he didn’t know how and why such thing happened to him.

“Investigation revealed that the suspect would have been arrested a long time ago, but the mother of the victim frustrated the move because she didn’t want to offend her pastor.

“But when the victim continuously bleeds from her private part since the incident which happened October 2021. She was left with no other option than to allow police come into the matter.

“The victim, who claimed that the pastor was the first person to sleep with her, is currently recuperating in an hospital.”

The PPRO added that the state Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole, had ordered the transfer of the case to State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and prosecution.
