Classroom wall collapses, kills 52-year-old carpenter

A carpenter, Ademola Lawrence, has been killed after a dilapidated classroom wall collapsed on him.

The classroom wall of the of Local Authority Primary School, Okitipupa, in the Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo State, fell on the 52-year-old carpenter while he was pulling the building down.

The father of four was said to have died when his remains were taken out of the rumble.

A source said the carpenter hailed from Ode-Irele in the Irele Local Government Area of the state, adding that he was performing the work of a bricklayer when he met his untimely death.

He said, “He was trying to pull down the dilapidated structure when the ugly incident happened and died before help could reach him.

“The corpse of the man has been deposited at the morgue of the Ondo State Specialist Hospital in Okitipupa.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Funmilayo Odunlami, confirmed the development, describing the incident as unfortunate.

She added, “We have commenced investigations into the incident.”
