Nigerian singer and songwriter, Bukola Elemide, popularly known by the stage name Asa, has served a copyright infringement notice on fellow musician Joseph Akinwale Akinfenwa-Donus, popularly known and referred to as Joeboy.

The notice served on September 30, claimed that the song ‘Contour’ by Joeboy infringed on her “composition” copyright which was created in a studio session Asa had with Tempoe sometime in September 2020.

The notice included a litany of demands including that Joeboy remove Contour from all digital platforms within twenty-four hours, issue a written apology, pay 300 million Naira, as well as give Asa a sixty-percent publishing split.

In response, Joeboy, posted the letter on his Instagram page on Monday, October 3rd, 2022, scoffed at the notice and dared Asa to take further steps following the notice.

Joeboy went on to quote on his Instagram.

“Cos i dey always do love and light you think sey i be soft meat. You said i have 24 hours, it’s been 48hours, do something.”

These latest issue continues the copyright saga between Asa and Tempoe. Earlier in the year the producer sued Asa over copyright issues which resulted in Asa taking off song with Grammy-nominated Wizkid, “IDG,” and “Love Me or Give Me Red Wine” off her last released album “V”.
