Crash: Ten persons perish on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway
No fewer than ten persons died on Saturday morning after a commercial bus rammed into a truck in the Ogun State end of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
The crash, according to eyewitnesses, occurred around 4.30am in the Oniworo area.
It was gathered that the truck had parked on the expressway and the bus which lost control had rammed into it.
The Federal Road Safety Corps which confirmed the crash stated that a total number of 19 persons were involved in the crash, comprising 13 male adults and six female adults.
The Ogun Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Mr Ahmed Umar, said, “The number plate of the bus is KLD 539 XA, while the truck has no visible number plate.
”A total of 19 people were involved in the crash which comprised 13 male adults and six female adults.
” Two male adults sustained injuries while seven male adults, two female adults and one female child died in the accident.”
Umar stated that the injured victims were taken to a private hospital in Ogere for medical attention while the deceased were deposited at Ipara morgue.
He appealed to motorists to drive with caution due to the hazy weather.
He warned motorists, especially truck drivers, to always display caution signs whenever their vehicles developed mechanical faults on the highway.
