The Ossiomo Power Company, a private-public-partnership project of the Edo State Government, has cried out over a forceful shutdown of its gas facility by the Nigeria Gas Marketing Company, a subsidiary of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company.

It added that the action had led to power outage in places it was supplying electricity.

A statement by one Adeyinka Ladejobi, on Wednesday, however added that concerned authorities were working to resolve the situation.

Ladejobi did not state what led to the current situation.

Recall that the Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, had in January disclosed plans to supply 24-hour electricity to the Benin Airport and the Nigerian Air Force Base in the Benin metropolis by Ossiomo Power project.

The statement reads partly, “We apologise for this unannounced outage.  This outage is as a result of a forceful shut down of our gas plant by NGMC without any notice.

“The situation has been escalated accordingly and we shall keep you posted. Thanks.”
