Governor Namadi reshuffles Jigawa cabinet

Jigawa State Governor, Umar Namadi, has announced cabinet reshuffle in the State Executive Council.

This was made public on Monday evening by the Jigawa State Commissioner of Information, Youth, Sports, and Culture, Sagir Musa after the State Executive Council Meeting.

Musa said the changes were part of the government’s efforts to reposition itself for better service delivery.

He said, “The Honorable Commissioner for Land, Housing, Urban Development, and Regional Planning, Hon. Muhammed Alhassan, will now head the Ministry of Water Resources.

“Hon. Ibrahim Garba Hannun Giwa, formerly the Commissioner for Water Resources, will now take over the Ministry of Local Government and Community Development.

“Also, Hon. Ahmed Garba (MK), the former Commissioner for Local Government and Community Development, will now oversee the Ministry of Land, Housing, Urban Development, and Regional Planning.”

“This cabinet reshufflement is expected to further enhance the government’s effectiveness,” said Musa.

The commissioner said the new assignments take immediate effect from Monday, May 5, 2025, and the affected commissioners are expected to report to their new offices within two weeks, latest by May 19, 2025.

The State Executive Council meeting also deliberated on the report of the White paper Committee set up to review the activities of the Jigawa Covid-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus (J-CARES) Programme.

“The Council accepted all the recommendations made in the report and directed the committee to ensure immediate implementation,” he added.
