Gunmen abduct Abia journalist, demand N10m ransom

Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have taken an Umuahia- based journalist, Chuks Onuoha.

It was gathered Onuoha was kidnapped at his residence at Ohuhu in the Umuahia North Local Governmrnt Area of Abia State.

Onuoha was a former Abia correspondent of The Sun Newspaper.

According to a family source, Onuoha who is now the Editor-in-Chief of All Facts newspaper was abducted around 10pm on Tuesday.

His abductors were said to have since established contact with the family and allegedly demanded  N10m ransom.

However, the Abia State Police Command said it was unaware of the incident.

The Command Public Relations Officer, Geoffrey Ogbonna, said, “We are yet to be officially notified.”

However, the President-General of the community, Suleiman Anyalewechi, confirmed the incident.

He explained that he was contacted by the secretary of the community that some men took Chucks Onuoha away.

He added, “We were not sure what it was all about until this morning when the kidnappers established contact with the family that he is in their custody.”
