The Kano State Hisbah Board says it plans to establish Hisba Academy in the state.

The Commander-General of the Board, Sheikh Aminu Daurawa, stated this on Thursday.

He explained that the Hisbah Academy would be an institution where formal knowledge and skills pertaining to Hisbah work would be taught and certificates would be awarded to graduates.

Daurawa said the proposed plan is a collaborative effort with Bayero University, Kano, Yusuf Maitama Sule University, Kano, Sa’adatu Rimi University of Education and Aminu Kano College of Islamic Legal Studies.

He said, “Hisbah board is to collaborated with Yusuf Maitama Sule University, Kano, Aminu Kano College of Islamic Legal Studies, Sa’adatu Rimi University of Education and the department of Islamic studies to establish a Hisbah Academy.”

He disclosed that the Hisbah management has since provided a rule of engagement to help operatives understand their roles and responsibilities.

On a planned mass wedding in the state, Daurawa explained that the board has offered 50 slots to journalists and media workers in the next batch of the state’s mass wedding programme.

He said following the success recorded in the last batch of the mass wedding which saw about 1,800 couples married off, the board decided to include interested members of professional groups and trade unions in the programme.

“We have given 50 slots to journalists and other members of the media who are interested in participating in the mass wedding programme,” he said.

According to him, the board will also include legal practitioners and health workers in the next batch of the exercise.

The cleric explained that the essence of the mass wedding is to entrench moral values in the society and reduce immorality especially among young men and women.
