How finding Jesus disrupted my career – DJ Cuppy

Florence Otedola, the Nigerian disc jockey fondly called DJ Cuppy, says a spiritual awakening “disrupted” her career.
In August 2024, Cuppy had herself baptised at Holy Trinity Brompton in London, a moment she described as her “best decision”.
Cuppy maintained that she is still a disc jockey but with “a deeper meaning”.
In a post via X on Friday, Cuppy said spirituality took her career in a different direction than she had originally planned, but in the “best way”.
She added that being constantly busy has little meaning if one is not aligned with their true calling.
“Was thinking this evening, Jesus really disrupted my DJ career plans o but in the BEST way,” the post reads.
“Booked and busy means nothing if you’re not walking in purpose.”
Cuppy began her career in 2014 as the resident DJ at the MTV Africa Music Awards.
Aside from being a DJ, she has also gained recognition as an artiste and recently made her acting debut.
The 31-year-old is known for songs like ‘Gelato’, ‘Green Light’, ‘Vybe’, ‘Currency’ and ‘Jollof On The Jet’.
In October 2021, Cuppy commenced her master’s degree programme in African Studies at Oxford University. She graduated from the university in March 2023.
In March 2024, she was appointed King’s Trust International Ambassador by King Charles III.
