Terrorists, yesterday, ambushed a security outpost and killed a policeman, Inspector Idris Musa at Makera village, along the Katsina-Jibia road, Katsina State.

As reported by The Guardian, the terrorists also abducted several passengers plying the road and moved them into a forest, which shares a border with Jibia Local Council.

A source from the area said the terrorists took security personnel stationed at the outpost unawares, and that they met little resistance during the attack.

He added that the terrorists also set the deceased policeman’s vehicle ablaze, before kidnapping an unspecified number of passengers and moving them into the forest.

He lamented that such attacks and abductions had become frequent in recent times, even as he called on the government to restrategise to effectively tackle the security situation.

The terrorists had also abducted several passengers and were almost moving them into the forest when they were accosted by a security unit dispatched to the scene.

The incident happened a few weeks after a state-owned commercial coaster bus was attacked by terrorists who they shot and killed the driver.

There were reports of similar attacks on security outposts and abduction of passengers along the Katsina-Jibia road in the past.

This is in spite of the presence of more than 12 security checkpoints, consisting of police, customs and military, which dot the approximately 50-kilometre road.

Spokesperson for the Command, Gambo Isah was yet to respond to an inquiry on the issue as of the time of filling this story.
