INEC to announce Oyo gov, assembly polls today, Makinde in early lead

The Independent National Electoral Commission in Oyo State has said the final collation of results of governorship House of Assembly elections will be released this morning, Sunday, March 19, 2023.

The state INEC Public Affairs Officer, Olayiwola Awolowo, who disclosed this at the commission headquarters in Ibadan, did not give reason(s) for the postponement of collation.

The collation is expected to resume by 9am.

However, Governor Seyi Makinde, who is seeking re-election on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, is in strong lead.

The results of gubernatorial election announced by INEC at some polling units across the state showed that Makinde won majority of the polling units in Ibadan, Oyo, Ogbomoso, Oke-Ogun, and Ibarapa zones.
