Former Transportation Minister Rotimi Amaechi says the All Progressives Congress in Rivers State contested against the Independent National Electoral Commission and the Police instead of the Peoples Democratic Party.

Amaechi spoke after casting his vote at Ward 8, Unit 17 in Ubima Ikwerre Local Government Area of the state.

In a video trending online, the former minister also noted that he and others had opposed the reappointment of INEC National Chairman, Yakubu Mahmood, saying the INEC boss was recommended for reappointment by someone in the camp of the president-elect, Bola Tinubu.

He said, “Some of us were opposed to the reappointment of Mohmood. The person who nominated him is in Tinubu’s camp. So, what are you expecting? Success?

“Here in Rivers State, Mahmood Yakubu Mamood worked under Wike as Executive Secretary of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund.

“So, what you are having in Rivers State is that APC, SDP and others are contesting elections not against PDP, but against INEC, against police.”
