Kaduna asks community residents in seven LGAs to relocate over expected flooding
The Kaduna State Emergency Management Agency (KADSEMA), has advised residents of communities in seven local government area of the state to relocate.
It explained that the communities were at risk of flooding, especially those residing along waterway, adding that relocation to safer, higher ground in anticipation of the peak of the rainy season was their best bet.
The Executive Secretary of the Agency, Dr Usman Mazadu, gave the warning on Monday, in a statement on Monday,
According to him, it was necessary to bring to the notice of the residents the torrential rainfall experienced between Sunday and Monday which was still on.He said the rainfall might result in the overflow of rivers, particularly those LGAs that have rivers or tributaries crossing through them, adding that there was a need for vigilance.
He said, “The Local Government Area communities include Government Secondary school Abubakar Kigo Road and LEA primary school Unguwan Rimi in Kaduna North Local Government Area. Namadi Sambo skill acquisition center T/Wada Kaduna and LEA primary school Nassarawa in Kaduna South Local Government Area.
“Others are Government Secondary School Romi and Government Secondary School Narayi in Chikun Local Government Area. Jumaat mosque Hayin Malam Bello in Igabi Local Government Area.
“There are also LEA Agwom Primary School, LEA Tsauni Primary School and LEA Sanga Village Primary School in Sanga Local Government Area, LEA Jere North Primary School, LEA Jere South Primary School in Kagarko Local Government Area, And GSS Kafanchan in Jema’a Local Government Area of the State”.
