Kano Assembly confirms Garo as new Deputy Governor

The Kano State House of Assembly on Monday confirmed Murtala Sule Garo as the new Deputy Governor of the state.

Garo’s confirmation came after a screening conducted by an ad hoc committee chaired by Deputy Speaker Muhammad Bello.

He replaces former Deputy Governor Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, who recently stepped down from office.

Lawmakers said the process followed constitutional provisions, specifically Section 191(3)(c) of the 1999 Constitution, which outlines how vacancies in the office of a deputy governor should be filled.

The Assembly noted that Garo showed a solid understanding of public administration and outlined clear strategies to assist Governor Abba Yusuf in delivering on his development agenda.

Speaker Jibril Isma’il Falgore presided over the session, where the Assembly unanimously approved the nomination through a voice vote.

The House also reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with the executive to ensure accountability and drive sustainable development in the state.
