Maritime Bridge maintenance: Lagos announces three-week traffic diversion

The Lagos State Government has released a traffic management plan in the Maritime Bridge area,which will commence on Sunday, May 18 to Sunday, June 8, 2025.

This follows the scheduled maintenance works on the Marine Bridge announced by the Federal Ministry of Works,

A statement by Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, the Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation explained that to minimize traffic disruption, the maintenance work would be carried out in two phases.

The commissioner said, “Phase 1 will span from the foot of Marine Bridge (Lawani Oguntayo Road inbound Apapa/Costain) while Phase 2 will cover Ijora Badia and Lilypond Access Ramp inbound Apapa.

“During this course of the maintenance, Motorists are advised to use the following alternative routes:

“PHASE 1

“Motorists inbound Apapa from Ijora Oloopa.

“Motorists from Ijora Oloopa heading towards Apapa are to use Ijora Causeway access ramp by Omni Retail Company and continue their journey.

“PHASE 2

“Motorists Inbound Apapa from Costain.

“Motorists heading to Apapa from Costain will be diverted into a contraflow on the lane inbound Costain.

“In the same vein, from 2nd to 8th June, 2025, Motorists from Ijora Olopa going to Apapa will be diverted through Ijora Causeway access ramp by Omni Retail Company into Lilypond Access Road to continue their journeys.

“The bridge will be fully reopened to traffic on Monday, 9th June, 2025.”

Osiyemi assured residents that the ministry would oversee and manage vehicular movement along the corridor through the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority to minimize inconveniences.

He added, “Motorists are implored to be patient as the partial closure is part of the traffic management plans for the maintenance works on the underlying bearing of some section on the Marine Bridge by the Federal Ministry of Works.
