22-year-old Ifeoluwa Osatunberu, recently graduated from Ajayi Crowther University Oyo where she finished second best and best female in her department. She also got her ICAN certification recently.

In this exclusive interview with theeditorial.ng, Ifeoluwa spoke on how she was able to achieve academic excellence, where she sees herself in the nearest future, excerpts:
How was growing up like for you?
I’m from Ekiti but grew up in Lagos. Growing up was pretty normal for me; I’m from a family of six. I had always wanted to a be Chartered Accountant from childhood.
Were you ever pressured by your parents to choose a certain profession?
No, I was never forced to choose any career. My siblings and I had the freedom to choose and decide what we wanted to do. Our parents gave us the freedom, and I’m grateful they are not the kind that force children to do what is against their will.
How were you able to combine studies for ICAN certification with your programme at the University?
I had to allocate most of my time to reading and studying, I couldn’t play or lazy around cause I knew what was ahead of me. It wasn’t easy but it was a decision I’m happy I chose.
What were the challenges you faced while trying to get your ICAN certification?
Hmmm, forcing myself sometimes to read when deep down I just wanted to play, sleep or watch movies. I denied myself so many things just because I knew I had a target to achieve. It was my choice and I’m happy I chose to be myself.
How were you able to achieve being the second best in your department and the best graduating female?
I was able to achieve this by just putting God first and dedicating so much of my time to studying.
I did socialise in school to the best of my ability and as much as I could. I’m not one to be easily distracted, so I’d say nothing really spectacular, I studied hard and out God first.
How were you able to handle advances from male students?
…I just ignore
What’s the next career move for you?
Well, gaining lots of practical experience and working with like minds
I see myself excelling in my career especially in the area of taxation and also looking towards having my own business.
How will you ensure marriage doesn’t stop you from attaining the peak of your career?
I don’t think marriage is usually the problem, it’s the person you’re married to…so my response will be being with someone who sees me, understands me and my goals and above all, loves God and has the fear of God.
