Nigeria exports solar panels to Ghana — FG

The Federal Government has announced that Nigeria has commenced the export of locally manufactured solar panels to Ghana.
The Managing Director of the Rural Electrification Agency, Abba Aliyu, at a recent event, revealed that Nigeria’s solar panel production capacity has expanded from 120 megawatts to 300 megawatts within two years.
“This momentum is being reinforced by approximately $425 million in investment earmarked for the establishment of eight renewable energy manufacturing facilities across the country,” he said.
Aliyu added that the investment drive is supported by additional commitments secured at the Nigeria Renewable Energy Innovation Forum 2025, aimed at strengthening the country’s clean energy ecosystem.
He noted that Nigeria is also exploring solar deployment in border communities to facilitate cross-border electricity trade, improve energy access, and enhance regional security.
