A front-line governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress in Ondo State, Dr Paul Akintelure, is dead.

The Otunba of Ikaleland was said to have died in a hospital in Lagos State.

Before his demise, Akintelure had raised concerns about both direct and indirect threats to his life.

He died three day after he released the statement on the alleged threat to his life.

His spokesman, Oladapo Akintelure, said Akintelure died on Tuesday morning after a brief illness.

Recall that Akintelure was running mate to late Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu in the 2012 governorship election under the platform of the Action Congress of Nigeria against Olusegun Mimiko, the then Labour Party flagbearer, who won the election.

He also contested the senatorial election against the Peoples Democratic Party candidate, but he was defeated.

He was a medical doctor and hailed from Igbotako, Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo State.

He had promised to give Ondo youths N5bn loan if elected as Governor.
