Osimhen cleared to play against South Africa

Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen, has been cleared to play in the semi-final clash against South Africa.

Nigeria will take on South Africa by 6pm on Wednesday in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

The Super Eagles flew to Bouake on Monday ahead of the fixture, but the reigning African Player of the Year stayed behind in Abidjan with members of the medical team.

“Members of the team traveled from Abidjan to Bouake today via a 10pm Air Cote D’Ivoire flight. Osimhen did not however make the trip as a result of an abdominal discomfort,” part of a statement from the NFF late Monday, read.

However, Osimhen returned to regular training on Tuesday after a short period of rehabilitation.

His inclusion was confirmed in a post via the Super Eagles’ official X page.

“Super Eagles Camp Update: Victor Osimhen has been declared fit and available for selection in the semi-final clash against South Africa on Wednesday. He has joined the team in Bouake and has trained with the squad today,” the post read.

With this news, the prayers of many Nigerians, who were really looking forward to Osimhen in action against the Bafana Bafana, have been answered.
