Presidency educates Nigerians on Tinubu’s official designation

The Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF) has clarified the official title of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and how it should always appear in formal communication.

In a statement released by the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the SGF, Mr Yomi Odunuga, the clarification, personally approved and signed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, was to correct many errors by different quarters regarding Mr President’s designation.

According to the statement, Akume urged members of the public and media organisations to verify official titles before publication in order to avoid what he described as “embarrassing and avoidable errors.”

“For the record, the correct and official appellation is: ‘His Excellency, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Federal Republic of Nigeria,’” the statement reads partly.

The SGF also advised journalists and organisations to confirm official information through the OSGF’s communication channels, including its verified social media platforms and official email address.

Akume stressed the importance of proper verification from authorised government sources.
