Twenty-seven lawmakers in the Rivers State House of Assembly have decamped to the All Progressives Congress.

The lawmakers, who were elected on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party, announced their decision during Monday plenary at the Rivers Assembly Complex.

The faction led by its Speaker Martin Amaewhule, made the disclosure at its 87th plenary in Port Harcourt.

The lawmakers are those loyal to the Minister of Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Chief Nyesom Wike.

The 27 legislators, also accused the state Governor, Mr Siminialayi Fubara, of starving them of funds.

Recall that the legislative arm of the state has been in crisis following their bid to impeach Governor Fubara.

The 27 lawmakers out of the 32 lawmakers of the House cited division in the PDP as the reason for crossing to the APC.
