Spartak Moscow has wished Nigeria international Victor Moses a speedy recovery following a serious injury that will see him face a lengthy spell on the sideline.

The Nigerian was injured in Spartak’s 2-0 win over Ural on Saturday in the Russian Premier League.

The former Chelsea man went down with no contact from the opposition team, before being stretchered off the pitch.

In a statement by the club on the website on Monday, the Nigerian had suffered an Achilles tendon injury and could face up to six months out of action.

The statement reads “Spartak midfielder Victor Moses, who was injured in the RPL 4th round match in Yekaterinburg, underwent a medical examination.

“The Nigerian has been diagnosed with an Achilles tendon injury. The player will have to undergo surgery. It will take about six months to recover from the injury.

“We wish Viktor a speedy return to the field!”

Moses has been in fine form for Spartak since the beginning of the 2022/23 season.

The 31-year-old has bagged two goals in four matches, enjoying his new role with the Russian club under new manager, Guille Abascal, and has helped Spartak pick up 10 points from the opening four games as they currently top the league.
