Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has said anybody who despises the political capability of the state will be treated accordingly.

The governor said on Monday while inaugurating the Orochiri-Worukwo Flyover, Port Harcourt.

The project was unveiled by the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

Wike explained that the dynamics of contemporary politics had made it unpopular to just give votes away without the assurance of derivable benefits for the people.

He said, “If you say Rivers State does not matter, Rivers State will tell you that you don’t also matter at the appropriate time. If you don’t like us, we will not like you. If you like us, we will like you.

“Nobody will use our votes for nothing. Our votes will matter and Rivers State must benefit from anybody that we are going to support.

“Politics now is no longer just vote for somebody; it is about what you will do for the people of Rivers State.”

The Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has, however, warned Wike against demolishing hotels, leisure places and other property belonging to its members.

Wike had in a state-wide broadcast on Sunday said he had intelligence report that some politicians in the state had concluded plans to use hotels and leisure places to host meetings with cultists and ex-convicts.

The governor warned that he would not hesitate to demolish any hotel or property that would be used to host such meetings.

The Publicity Secretary of APC in Rivers State, Chris Finebone, in a statement on Monday, warned the governor that he would bring anarchy of unimaginable proportion to himself should he demolish any property belonging to APC members in the state.
