Stanbic, Zenith, UBA, First banks count losses after robbers raid branches in Benue

No fewer than eight people were killed after armed robbers invaded banks in Otukpo, Benue State.

In the Friday robbery, there was pandemonium as residents fled in  different directions.

That robbers were said to have used the confusion to steal heavy cash from different banks while shooting indiscriminately.

It was gathered that the banks affected are Stanbic Bank, United Bank for Africa,  Zenith Bank, and First Bank Plc.

Our correspondent gathered that three police officers, one vigilante and a councilor of Otukpo Ward 2 who was transacting business in one of the affected banks were among those killed.

The Benue State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Catherine Sewuese, confirmed the incident.

She added, “Further details will be communicated later.”
