A non-political pressure group under the aegis of the Christain Conscience group has commended the on-going military efforts on terrorism in some parts of the country, saying the present efforts of the military seems more impactful and highly commendable.

The group, in a statement on Monday, advocated an improved and sustained onslaught on terrorists.

The statement was jointly signed by the group’s National Chairman, Dr Yetunde Akinluyi and the National General Secretary, Rev. Kolawole Verrals.

“The lingering efforts of these terrorists have contributed to shortage of foods , high cost of living in the country and hindering movements of people, goods and services .When farmers and all partakers in food chain are or can be harmed , how will food be available to all, the group wondered.?

The statement partly reads, “Now that the military high commands have responded positively to the body language of the President, we believe better days are ahead because there has been too much shedding of innocent blood in the country.”

On the issue of the lingering strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities, the group also commended the president for stepping in but admonished all concerned to be fair, just and committed so as to bring an end to the plights of our children who have been idle and can be vulnerable having stayed at home for about seven months.

“The intervention of the President should be towards a logical and result oriented conclusion.

“This is a call to our political, traditional and opinion leaders to do more and put pressure on both the government and the union to end the staying at home of the students.

“We pray and urge President Buhari to ensure there is an end to the strike as soon as possible so that our children can go back to school and also redeem the image of the educational sector,” the statement added. .

The group also reiterated its early position when it called on political parties to ensure their campaigns are issue-based during the campaign periods.

“We appeal, for the umpteenth time, to all political parties to have issue-based discussions during the campaigns so that the electorates can have informed decisions when voting,” the group added.
