Afrobeats singer,Temilade Openiyi, popularly called Tems, has received her Grammy award plaque.

In February, the songstress won her first-ever Grammy award.

She bagged the ‘Best Melodic Rap Performance’ category for her role in ‘Wait for U’, the 2022 hit song by Future featuring Drake.

Tems and Burna Boy were the only Nigerian artistes nominated for the 2023 edition of the Grammy Awards.

Burna Boy, however, lost the ‘Best Global Music Album’ and the ‘Best Global Music Performance’ categories.

Tems win attracted a plethora of accolades for her — including a congratulatory message from former President Muhammadu Buhari.

Other prominent personalities who congratulated Tems include Tiwa Savage, Waje, Omawumi, the singers; and Titi Atiku Abubakar, wife of former vice-president.

On Friday, in an Instagram story, Muyiwa Awoniyi, the singer’s manager, shared a picture of the gold-plated award.

The picture shows a hand holding the plaque with a titled inscription of “National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences”.

Tems became famous in 2020 after featuring in ‘Essence’, a collaborative song with Wizkid.

She has since enjoyed numerous awards and recognition for her craft.

In 2022, Tems made her first solo entry on the Billboard Hot 100 with ‘Free Mind’, a track off her ‘For Broken Ears’ EP in 2020.

A few months later, the song was ranked number 9 on Billboard’s chart.

Last month, ‘Free Mind’ became the longest-charting track by a lead female artiste atop Billboard’s R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay list.
