Manchester City defeated Crystal Palace 3-0 in the English Premier League on Wednesday night to put the pressure back of league leaders Arsenal.
Goals from Antoine Semenyo, Omar Marmoush, and Savinho led City to the easy win over the UEFA Conference league finalists in the rescheduled EPL fixture.
Despite leaving Erling Haaland on the bench, the hosts scored with their first shot on target, with Ghana international Semenyo collecting Phil Foden’s back heeled pass and slotted into the net for 1-0 on 32 minutes.
The lead was doubled eight minutes later when Marmoush’s shot on the turn from Foden’s missed control sailed past goalkeeper Dean Henderson, and ensured Man City went into the break with a healthy two-goal lead.
The third goal did not come until the last six minutes of the match, Savinho slotted home to improve the Cityzens’ goals difference going into the final two games of the season.
Pep Guardiola’s Man City have 77 points from 36 matches, as they attempt to stop Arsenal from claiming a first EPL title in 22 years.
They face Chelsea in the FA Cup this weekend, before returning to EPL action next week Tuesday at on-form Bournemouth.
