Tinubu, wife back in Nigeria after holiday abroad

The Nigerian President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, is finally back to the country after over a month of holiday abroad.

His private jet touched down at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, to the admiration of a mammoth crowd, led by members of the All Progressives Congress.

Tinubu and his wife, Oluremi’s arrival at exactly 4.30pm, ignited excitement from the party’s Chieftain and friends who trooped out to welcome the incoming President.

Tinubu who was declared winner by INEC in the February 25 Presidential election has been away to France and other countries.

He will he inaugurated as Nigeria’s 16th Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces on May 29 in Abuja, the nation’s capital.

Tinubu and Oluremi were received by the Vice President-Elect, Kashim Shettima; Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong; Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila; Senators Dayo Adeyeye, Smart Adeyemi, Senator-elect, Adams Oshiomhole, and others.

He was given a rousing welcome by party supporters and stakeholders, including members of the dissolved APC Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), led by James Faleke, Secretary of the dissolved APC PCC and Mr Ade Omole, its Director of Diaspora.

Tinubu waved to the crowd as he was escorted from the airport by a carnival-like motorcade, amid tight security, to the Defence House, Abuja, where he would stay ahead of his inauguration on May 29.

Support groups in Abuja, Niger and Nasarawa States had earlier converged at the APC PCC Secretariat at Abuja Central Business District for onward movement to the airport to welcome Tinubu.

Only accredited support groups were allowed at the airport to welcome Tinubu.
