Top ISWAP commander, Muhammed Malik, others killed in military airstrike in Lake Chad region

Muhammed Malik, a top commander of the Islamic State of the West African Province (ISWAP) is dead.

He was killed along with others by troops of the air task force, Operation Hadin Kai, in the Lake Chad region

Zagazola Makama, a publication focused on the Lake Chad region, said Malik died on November 29 from the fatal injuries he sustained in a coordinated intelligence-led aerial and ground operation targeted at the jihadist group’s location in the Sabon Tumbun area of Lake Chad on November 24.

Malik, who is a member of ISWAP’s Shura Council in Marte before going for a course in computer engineering and improvised explosive device (IED) making, sponsored by ISIS in Somalia, was killed alongside some fighters of the terrorist group.

Before his death, he established IED training units where fighters were trained in deploying explosives during attacks.
