Suspected mentally-ill man kills nine persons, lynched

A man suspected to be mentally ill, Ali Denham, has stabbed no fewer than nine people to death in Adamawa State.

Naija News reported on Friday revealed that the incident happened in Kate-Gamji village in the Sheleng Local Government Area of the state on Wednesday.

It was gathered that some angry youths in the village subsequently surrounded Denham and disarmed him while they also beat him to death.

A source said, ““Ali Denham, a mentally-ill man, killed nine villagers and was also killed by the angry youth of the community. This happened on Wednesday at Sheleng community,”

Another source who confirmed the incident, “He held a knife, and everyone that came his way, including an aged woman and man, were stabbed with the knife. He ensured the person he stabbed was dead before moving to someone else.”

It was gathered that the remains of the deceased persons were buried on Thursday.

It was also learnt that family members of the suspected man had fled the community.

The state police command has not issued any official statement on the incident.
