The Adamawa State Police Command Headquarters came under heavy gunfire of unidentified hoodlums in the early hours of Wednesday.

Daily Trust reports that the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, confirmed the attack on the command located in Jimeta, in the Yola North Local Government Area.

He, however, added that things were under control.

Nguroje said, “The attack was repelled, but the identities of those behind it was unknown.”

Daily Trust further reports that a source claimed that the attackers were military personnel on a revenge mission, following the alleged killing of a military officer by the police.

While it could not be verified if the military personnel were involved, the police said investigations were “ongoing to ascertain the cause of the attack and those behind it.”
