Kano TikToker, Murja Kunya, boyfriend arrested by Hisbah over ‘controversial’ postings

The Kano State Hisbah Board has arrested Murja Ibrahim Kunya, a popular TikToker known for her controversial social media content.

The Public Relations Officer of the board, Lawal Ibrahim, who confirmed the arrest of Kunya on Tuesday, said the TikToker was arrested along with her boyfriend

He said Kunya was arrested following series of complaints received from her neighborhood on her controversial postings in the social media.

“We have been hunting for Murja Kunya but luckily her boyfriend took her somewhere and we arrested them,” he said.

It was learnt that the Hisbah board sought to arrest at least six famous Tiktok skit makers for allegedly posting vulgar skit videos on their Tiktok and other social media accounts, an act that the board says contradicts its laws.

The hunt for entertainers comes few months after the Commander-General of the board, Sheikh Aminu Daurawa invited all female Tiktokers in Kano to a session where the board offered to rehabilitate and empower them with businesses and scholarships.
