Gunmen kill 13 farmers in Niger

At least 13 people have been killed after suspected gunmen attacked some farms in Niger State.

The victims were murdered while working on their farms in the Shiroro Local Government Area of the state on Wednesday.

The state Deputy Governor, Yakubu Garba, in a statement on Thursday, labelled the attack as “satanic, insensible, atrocious and callous.”

He said it was “utterly appalling and deeply disturbing” that people could carry out such a “barbaric and vicious act” on other humans.

Garba expressed condolences to the grieving families, residents and the Shiroro community.

He said the state government was determined to restore peace and security across Niger State.

The Deputy Governor urged security agencies to remain strong and resolute in their efforts to secure lives and property.
