21 passengers killed as truck, bus collide on Kaduna expressway
No fewer than 21 persons were killed in an accident on the Abuja-Kaduna Expressway on Thursday.
The incident was said to have occurred between a trailer truck and a passenger Hummer bus travelling to Kano.
According to an eyewitness at the scene of the incident, the accident occurred near a route detour, which required all motorists to drive in a single lane.
He stated that the driver of the articulated vehicle fled the scene, leaving behind his vehicle and another container truck that was blocking the busy route.
An official of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), who spoke as a source said “three passengers survived the accident and were rushed to Umaru Musa Memorial Hospital in Sabon-Wuse town for medical attention. The remains of the dead victims were deposited at the hospital’s mortuary.”
Idris Ibrahim, the Divisional Police Officer in Charge of Tafa Division, Kagarko LG in Kaduna State, said he was compiling a report on the occurrence.
