Olubadan of Ibadan Oba Olakulehin dies at 90

The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, has joined his forefathers at the age of 90.

The revered monarch d!ed in the early hours of Monday, July 7, 2025.

His death comes two days after his 90th birthday. The monarch turned 90 on Saturday, July 7, 2025

Olakulehin died as his 90th birthday and first anniversary coronation was being celebrated.

Oba Olakulehin, born July 5, 1935, received his staff of office from Governor Seyi Makinde on July 12, 2024, following the demise of the 42nd Olubadan, Oba Moshood Olalekan Balogun, Alli Okumade II, on March 14, 2024, at the age of 81.

This brings an end to a brief reign that lasted only one year.

The Otun Olubadan, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, who is next in line to become Olubadan, is currently out of the country and he is expected back.
