TikTok personality Peller has created laughter online for announcing job offer which requires the candidates to have Master’s degree.

Peller, by the way, was said to possess just Secondary School Leaving Certificate.

In a video he shared on X, Peller announced that he is looking to hire two photographers from a pool of twenty applicants.

He said the candidates must have a Master’s degree to qualify for the position, which pays ₦500,000 monthly.

According to Peller, the requirement is justified, as banks also demand advanced degrees while offering even lower salaries.

He said if graduates are willing to pursue such roles, then they should also be willing to meet similar demands for better pay.

Many Nigerians took to social media to criticize the requirement as unnecessary and even insulting, arguing that skill and portfolio should matter more than academic credentials in creative fields like photography.

“How does having a Master’s degree improve the quality of your work?” asked @THE_CRAFT3R.

“He should be asking about their past projects instead of a degree.”

Another user, @MascotOgbe, wrote, “If you want to be cheaply popular in Nigeria, just be stupid. Peller is a perfect example.”

Some accused him of mocking the education system. @PatrikoBayern said, “He doesn’t have to disrespect Master’s certificates. That’s an absurdity. Don’t mock the certification. It cost money and intellect.”

Several others pointed out the irony in requiring an advanced degree for a hands-on job like photography. “In which countries do video editors or cinematographers require a Master’s degree to work?” asked @digitalaom. “It’s laughable.”

Some others defended Peller’s right to set the terms for his own job offer.

“Well, it’s his job and his money,” wrote @VictorNUde. “Man has the right to state his terms. Really.”

User @itsnrman joked about the situation, saying, “I honestly thought he would ask about their past works and all that, not MasterCard or Master’s degree.”

Some felt that Peller’s tone and delivery were mocking and that he was using his platform to insult people struggling in a difficult economy. “There are many ways to offer jobs, not like a ‘hoodlum,’” commented @SANDCOVIC. “He could have done this better.”

However, a few users saw it as a strategic move to limit applicants to only serious candidates.

“It was an exaggeration so only serious people will come,” said @BwoyFinex. “He shouldn’t be questioned about his education level. A lot of rich men in the world aren’t graduates.”
