The Kebbi State Police Command has said proposed protests to show disapproval with the kidnapping of school girls in the state is ill timed.

It explained that it has a credible intelligence at its disposal which indicates a plan by some groups and NGOs to organize/hold a protest within the state over the unfortunate incident at Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School, Maga, any moment.

But CSP Nafiu Kotarkoshi, the state Police Public Relations Officer in a statement on Friday said the is not in support of such protest, urging the planners to note that present situation in the state is dicey for any protest or rally to hold as it has the potential of instigating violence in the state.

He added, “While the Command remains deeply concerned about the regrettable incident, it is misguided and counterproductive for any protest to hold in the state, as it will undermine the unwavering commitment of the combined team of security personnel in their relentless efforts to rescuing the kidnapped school girls unhurt.

“The Command reiterated its determination to protecting lives and property as well as safeguarding the public peace, calling on the members of the public to continue supporting police operations by reporting any suspicious movement to the nearest police station or other security agencies for prompt response.”
