The Olota of Otta, Oba Adeyemi Obalanlege, has donated Hillux van and operational motorcycle to Amotekun Corps as one of the measures to contain security breaches and making Awori Kingdom devoid of insecurity.
Addressing the combined team of Amotekun and Nigerian Police Force at the palace, the Chairman, Olota Security Committee, Chief Taofeeq Bashorun, said the magnanimity of Olota did not just start today as he had before now, gifted operational vehicles to the Nigerian Navy in Otta, among several other communal interventions.
He said the monarch, being a royal father that is proactive, did not want to wait until an ugly incidence happen in his town or any other Awori town before he swings into action.
In his remarks before the presentation, the Olota said he was taken aback by the ugly terrorist attack on innocent worshippers in Owo, describing it as the ‘most unfortunate’.
He said that as a royal father, who understands that government could not do it all, he decided to give the vehicles and motorcycle to Amotekun Corps, being a local security outfit that is closest to the people at the grassroots.
The monarch advised them to make judicious use of the vehicle to reduce insecurity in Ogun State, most especially, Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area.
Reacting, the Deputy State Commandant, Amotekun Corps, Olukayode Aina, said his joy knew no bound as he had looked forward to receiving such great news in time past.
