Senate gets new minority leader, whip

The Nigerian Senate on Tuesday announced Philip Aduda of the Peoples Democratic Party as the new Senate Minority Leader.
Aduda, representing the Federal Capital Territory, was a two-time member of the Ho
got the new position the resignation and defection of Enyinnaya Abaribe (Abia South).
He was the Senate Minority Whip until he got the new position.
Consequently, Chukwuka Utazi, representing Enugu North was named the new Minority leader.
The upper chamber also announced some defections:
It said Ahmad Babba Kaita (Kastina North) notified the senate of his defection from the All Progressive Congress to the People’s Democratic Party.
Also, Francis Alimikhena (Edo North) officially dumped the APC to the PDP.
Additionally, Lawal Gumau (Bauchi South) told the senate that he had moved from the APC to the New Nigeria People’s Party.
